Guys, I seriously cannot handle how fast Hadleigh is growing. Every single day she learns something new. The first couple of months of her life I feel like I was trying to rush her growth, but now that I’m starting to see her change so quickly, I want it to stop!
I know she’s only 4 months old, but still! Ugh, now I know what parents meant by saying it goes by fast. Even though it’s been 4 months, it feels like I just gave birth to her yesterday. She is getting quite the personality these last few weeks. The girl knows what she wants and when she wants it. I wonder where she gets that from…hmm…
Anyways, we had a cute little photoshoot last week and Knox decided he wanted to be a part of it too. The cats are starting to get a little more interested in her. It’s pretty cute.
Brendan got to experience taking Hadleigh to the doctor this time around. She had her 4 month check up and shots this past week. She weighs 13 lbs 5 oz and is 24.5 inches long. She is in the 50th percentile for length and 33rd percentile for weight. My tiny little nugget.
New discoveries
She has recently discovered her feet and is constantly grabbing them. It is the cutest. She has also discovered her voice. She talks and yells A LOT. She is turning into such a sassy little thing. I have a feeling she will be one of those toddlers who just talks your ear off. She also has turned into a roly poly! She can roll from her back to her stomach, but still is trying to get the hang of rolling from her stomach to back. She will get pretty frustrated with herself when she gets stuck on her stomach, but she’s getting there!
Likes
Like I mentioned before, she likes to yell and talk. She also likes to grab objects. She is now starting to actually grab and play with her toys. She also loves to blow spit bubbles. The doc said she is probably teething because her gums are starting to change quite a bit and she has been producing a lot of saliva, hence the spit bubbles. She’s also started this thing where she kicks her legs super fast and hard. When she is eating she constantly is kicking me and pinching me. So lovely! She is also a big fan of being outdoors. We take her on hikes and walks outside and it helps calm her down and distract her. In the mornings we enjoy sitting on the front porch with our coffee and watching the cars go by. Last but not least, she really likes her mama. She is intrigued by everything I do and she loves to watch me get ready.
Dislikes
So, I don’t think she really hates the car, but I don’t think she is fond of sitting in her car seat for long periods of time. She gets bored very easily. Depending on her mood and how long she has been in the car, she will start to lose her mind…and then Brendan and I start to lose ours. I’m on the lookout for some good car ride toys or music, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
Sleep
Hadleigh is sleeping through most of the night in her crib. She usually wakes up once around 4:30 or 5 but will easily fall back asleep after getting a little snack. Putting her down for bed can be a challenge. I’m still pretty much rocking or nursing her to sleep. I want to start working on putting her down while she is awake but drowsy and let her self soothe….but it’s hard to listen to her scream and cry! I’m nervous to do the “cry it out” method, but I’m thinking it might need to happen soon. She is especially hard to put down for naps. I normally will nurse her and she naps in my arms. I would really like to start putting her down in her crib for naps so I can get things done! That is on my list of things to work on now that I am going to stay home more with her.
Eating
Hadleigh is still exclusively eating breast milk. I have been nursing her a lot more now and mainly just pump once before bed so Brendan has middle of the night bottle for her. I will pump if I am working though. I know some moms start introducing solids around this time, however her doc said the recommendation is 6 months. She still doesn’t seem interested in food at this point anyway, so I don’t mind waiting a couple of more months.
She is turning into such a fun little baby! I am so excited because this week we get to go to my favorite place in the world, Cape Hatteras NC! The hurricane didn’t do too much damage so we still get our first beach vacation with the baby! I am SO excited to see her reaction to the ocean. I have a feeling she will love it because she is already mesmerised by nature and loves being outdoors.
Stay tuned for a blog post about our trip!
And the adventure continues.
